Lap Pool Design

Set within the natural surrounds of the recently built family home in Donvale, this well sized lap pool measures 25.0m in length and ranges from 2.0m in width along the lap lane and stretches out to 5.0m in the kids play area – perfect for both family fun and year round fitness.

Although the block was tiered and levelled prior to pool excavation and construction, a large portion of the 25.0m lap lane is positioned on a concrete floating slab suspended above natural ground level as the land slopes away 2.0 plus metres in height. Repositioning the pool to a completely flat location on the property so as to avoid a floating slab was not an option for the client. With a young family, it was essential for the client to have complete visibility of the entire pool from all living zones of the family home.

The client trains for both marathons and triathlons year round. Being able to use the pool for training while the children play in the pool at the same time was part of the client’s brief. The shape of the pool, the step area and the floor profiling where tailored to achieve multipurpose use for the client.

With a large family home to run on a single income stream, the client required the running costs of the swimming pool to be kept to a minimum if possible. The two alternate heat pump sizes, Remco Swimroll Pool cover and energy efficient pool pumps where chosen and incorporated into the project for this very reason. The running costs of the swimming pool are also offset by the PV Solar Panels on site.

The ever-popular Aqualux Bahama pool colour is complimented by the large format drop-down bluestone tiles and hardwood timber decking which surrounds the pool. With timber uprights and frameless glass as the safety barrier, the pool zone blends in with the natural landscape of the property surrounds.
