Small Pool Design

Featured at the lowest point of the family property in Brighton East, the small plunge pool design spans 5.5m in length and 3.0m in width. Entering via a corner step and a full width bench seat, the custom floor profile ranges from 1.0m to 1.8m - perfect for plunging into on a hot summers day!

Long enough to swim stationary laps with the assistance of a swim harness, the plunge pool is heated by a heat pump allowing the family to extend the swim season into Spring and Autumn. The cleverly concealed ABGAL Thermal Pool Blanket can easily be pulled out to cover the pool to reduce pool heating costs - with space at a premium at the lower triangular level, the underground cover pit was an absolute must.

The small plunge pool was initially designed to feature at the existing deck level however, due to a flood overlay, this was not an option. After careful consideration and collaboration between Anthony Scott Landscape Design and the client, a new approach was designed complete with extensive sitting areas, fire pit, lawn area and sun lounges. The team from Parkview Landscapes & Construction executed the new outdoor design.

The existing timber decking from the upper level alfresco area continues down to the lower pool zone. The multifunction steps connecting the two levels provide a great seating area, especially of a night time when illuminated, transforming the mood of the total outdoor space. Bluestone paving wrap the pool and continue through to the fire pit area with the use of long stepping pads, creating a great sense of continuity between each individual entertaining area. The total space is softened by the synthetic lawn and choice of pool friendly plants (star jasmine climbers, low level grasses and gardenias).

What was once an unused lower level now provides a whole new element of entertainment, inviting family and friends to spend time in and around the pool year round. Through consideration and collaboration with the right team so much can be achieved in a small tight space!
